Keep The Darkness Away

You were there from the start Right when I came apart You picked me up and helped me find All I left behind I was bloodied and beat I couldn't stand on my feet And I stared into the blackened morning sky Wondering why How could you see all that I could be When I stood there naked and torn? You're the only one that never thought to run Though I flood you with poison and scorn Don't know why you stay But you keep the darkness away All the world had me down I tried to swim but I drowned So I got down on my knees and began to pray But I heard you say "I know this wasn't your plan Open your eyes, here's my hand." That early road you chose to take Was your mistake 'Cause baby, I see all that you could be As you stand there naked and torn I'm the only one who never thought to run Though you flood me with poison and scorn Forever here I'll stay To keep your darkness away We're a pocket watch without any hands No one could ever know what we begin to try But I'll keep holding on 'til your love is won 'Cause baby I see all that you could be As you stand there naked and torn I'm the only one who never thought to run Though you flood me with poison and scorn Forever here I'll stay To keep your darkness away Forever here I'll stay I'll keep the darkness away
