and i'm just the same as i always was

Falling from an orange tree I watched the rest of me Fly above the houses and the cars Or maybe it was a silly dream Patchwork quilt of memories Cause now I see I’m laying in the yard And I’m just the same as I always was Twenty years and I finally pause My breath is still holding for applause But I’m just staring at the sky Will the light come out And clean the ground Rinse the dust that’s gathered In the water spout The kids all shout Let me grow my flowers where I stand I don’t know what’s coming after Me and I don’t know the answer But I wanna hold you all I can Take a walk with me tomorrow You can lead and I will follow You from the beginning to the end And I’m just the same as I always was Twenty years and I finally pause My breath is still holding for applause But I’m just staring at the sky Will the light come out And clean the ground Rinse the dust that’s gathered In the water spout The kids all shout Let me grow my flowers where I stand
