Gold

As the comedy starts Everything's okay But if you watch it too often You'll never laugh again You said you're on the mend But you're running in circles again And the money you lent Never got returned And the friends that you made Aren't what you thought they were And it gets you down Nothing'll bring you 'round So you're getting up And you're getting out A blank canvas is not enough Need to draw on different stuff You say you don't wanna know If it don't look like gold So you move to a different town New surroundings won't turn things 'round And it gets you thinking maybe it's you 'Cause the answеr's not the Midas touch 'Cause I would wanna hold you too much If she's gonе already From where I'm standing To be perfect is to be untrue Yeah, it's something that we just can't do So let's go without it tonight And maybe you'll find the gold you've been holding all this time And you wanna not care How you look naked But the clothes that you wear Reveal that you fake it No one's really buying into that dress You're a smart girl making her own mess Nobody else cares So act freely A blank canvas is not enough Need to draw on different stuff You say you don't wanna know If it don't look like gold So you move to a different town New surroundings won't turn things 'round And it gets you thinking maybe it's you 'Cause the answer's not the Midas touch 'Cause I would wanna hold you too much And she's gone already From where I'm standing To be perfect is to be untrue Yeah, it's something that we just can't do So let's go without it tonight And maybe you'll find the gold you've been holding all this time Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Gold Oooh-ooh Oooh-ooh
