Cruel

Fire below us today The gods above have turned away The better you do, more you ache The more love you make, more they take We know that praying’s no use But sometimes that’s all we can do The black rain keeps singing the blues Reminding us “we’re all born to lose” The world is cruel Sad, but it’s oh so true Do you enjoy watching me Swimming in my misery? Is it my blood that tastes so sweet? Is your victory my defeat? Darkening sky is so high I’m down here wondering why You violate and deprive Why do you keep me alive? The world is cruel What did I do to you? You ripping my heart in two
