American Heartbreak

Well I've been down to the valley Yes, I've looked up to the sky And I've been lost in the heartland I've been down the wind high Across the Ohio River, chased the trains to Santa Fe Seen the fields of Virginia across the great northern plains But I wish there was a southbound highway headed straight for LA Oh the miles keep tearing me away And my love for you will never ever change I heard another American heartbreak Well I've met all kinds of people From the northeast to the west Man I've looked for some kind of meaning That I've tried hard to forget Across the Ohio River, took the train to Santa Fe Seen the fields of Virginia across Chesapeake Bay Man I wish there was a southbound highway headed straight for LA Oh the miles keep tearing me away And my love for you will never ever change I heard another American heartbreak Across the Ohio River, seen the trains in Santa Fe Seen the fields of Virginia across the great northern plains But I wish there was a southbound highway headed straight for LA Oh the miles keep tearing me away And my love for you will never ever change I heard another American heartbreak
