Winter’s Heart

Everyone’s gone home now The party of the eve now over And soon the dawn will ponder, For now I’ll try for bed. But something keeps me on the edge Something welling up, unsaid Mere whispers fall on snow as if to rest Beautiful, it’s beauty that Takes hold of me in the silence And it sings to me Warm as true love’s embrace A lullaby as the city sleeps beside Evergreen in January Here I am full of friends Winter’s heart, quiet mood, gathering. All the years are calling, small lifetimes, fully realized, inside my mind this winter, to warm the months ahead Crazy laughter, wind swept tears, family, all those held dear, They whisper through the past to bid me rest Beautiful, it’s beauty that Takes hold of me in the silence And it sings to me Evergreen in January Here I am full of friends, Winter’s heart, quiet mood, restless heart, something good Winter’s heart, quiet mood gathered near.
