Comes As No Surprise

In the sand you used to lay You'd be there at my side As the night fell on the shore She had gone I trusted to you to stay Read the story in the papers Of a lover who had gone Think that she has moved away No one heard from her at all For years Someone must have heard her leave Saw something Get a job or get a place All these questions made No sense to me Comes as no surprise Stay with me tonight Said you'd never leave Pray that you are safe Comes as no surprise Stay with me tonight Stay with me tonight Every year i will return And briefly you are there And you always look the same Nothing changes Must have been the breeze You have shot me to the bone And ripped me up again Was the cruelest thing to do Came as no surprise To me Met a soldier from the war Stole her things Died alone a junkie I still wait for you I know you're safe Comes as no surprise Stay with me tonight Said you'd never leave Pray that you are safe Comes as no surprise Stay with me tonight Stay with me tonight Stay with me tonight
