Meet Me at Midnight

We meet every Tuesday At the little place on Broadway While you stir your coffee I count the freckles on your cheek You tell me about your weekend Fighting with your boyfriend Don’t know why you’re with him He’ll never treat you right I’m thinking if only you were mine I’d say Meet me at midnight We’ll catch some fireflies And teach them how to write our names Into the night sky Under the bright lights I’m gonna love you til’ the mornin’ comes Meet me when the day is done Meet me at midnight Meet me at midnight Lately I’ve been dreaming About you and I at eighteen Dancing in the kitchen We got drunk on your parents whiskey I found that old picture Taken after high school That summer by the river I should’ve kissed you right I’m thinking if only you were mine I’d say Meet me at midnight We’ll catch some fireflies And teach them how to write our names Into the night sky Under the bright lights I’m gonna love you til’ the mornin’ comes Meet me when the day is done Meet me where we drew the line Somewhere between you and I And if I asked you to be mine Would you meet me at midnight We’ll catch some fireflies And teach them how to write our names Into the night sky Under the bright lights I promise you there we morning sun I’m gonna love you til’ the mornin’ comes futures meet me at midnight Meet me at midnight Would you meet me at midnight
