10 Rocks

My old friend buried his Mama today Told me about how he cried bloody tears and prayed As the preacher shouted loud to believers The sermon pounded home to redeemers That's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks When I heard the icy water waves crashing on the shore (oh the water, can't stand the water) When my little baby said she just can't take it no more (oh the water, can't stand the water) When the earth split open and we buried the man (oooooooh) The man that died a demon with a two-fisted hand That's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks When the tall green crops drown underneath the rain (oh it's pouring down) When the memories come and your knees buckle under the pain (oh it's pouring down) When the take-back man steals away your soul (oooooohhhh) Longing in your pockets and you come up cold That's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks When sleep won't come and eyes won't shut out the light (oh the darkness, oh the darkness) When you ache for slumber and your eyes won't close out the light (oh you're lost your way) When the compass leads, still lost your way Nothing left to lose but another day That's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks When God come to meet me I'll be waiting at the door (how ya doin' so glad to see ya) When He comes down to seek us I'll be waiting at the door (how ya doin' so glad to see ya) The trial is over gonna go with the Lord (ooooohhhh) Wont' have to worry about my sins no more And that's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks And that's heavy brother Heavy as 10 rocks
