The Day It Rained in Southern California

I lay awake at night See the moon up in the sky Wishing I could be up there Ease my mind and not feel scared Of all the people down there 'Cause I've got this issue Make everybody happy But I look in the mirror Wonder who's looking back at me And I can't stop it happening It's a never-ending summer I'm getting way too hot I need to feel the thunder to wash off what I'm not Let it pour let it pour on my skin a little more The day it rained in southern California was the day I let my hair fall off my shoulders And I felt so free The day it rained in southern California was the day I learned to love myself all over And I felt so me I tried to be perfect But I'd never felt so worthless Funny how you lose sight of things When you spend your whole life searching oh When they close the curtain who are you It's a never-ending summer It's getting way too hot I need to feel the thunder hit me like a waterfall Let it pour let it pour on my skin a little more The day it rained in southern California was the day I let my hair fall off my shoulders And I felt so free oh The day it rained in southern California was the day I learned to love myself all over And I felt so me Without the rain you can't find the rainbow Without the water a flower can't grow Sometimes you gotta lose your mind just a little just to know Without the rain you can't find the rainbow Without the water a flower can't grow Sometimes you gotta lose your mind just a little just to know The day it rained in southern California was the day I let my hair fall off my shoulders And I felt so free oh The day it rained in southern California was the day I learned to love myself all over And I felt so me And I felt so free
