Stones

Under cherry blue skies there’s a boy sitting silent In the shade of an ironwood tree He doesn’t know now but his heart will know soon He’s so specially different like me It kills to find out your love is a crime To the ones who taught you to love You didn’t choose to be beaten and bruised By the stones that built your home the stones that built your home There’s a girl in the mirror taunted by the reflection Of someone she’ll never be In a silken pink dress that falls to her ankles like chains She longs to be free Her brother’s tuxedo that hangs in the closet Would fit her much better she knows She didn’t choose to be beaten or bruised By the stones that built her home the stones that built her home La la la la Every once in a while when the cries get too loud And hurt is all we see Call out the wrongs at the top of our lungs We have the right to be We’re damned and abused often stripped of our truth Aren’t we all deserving of love We didn’t choose to be beaten and bruised By the stones that built our home By the stones that built our home
