Kentucky Flood

Stubborn little man Did a little hands on a worn out tire He's just like his dad Proud that he had it set aside Until that day Many came and took his life Ditzy campaign Til the rains washed away His beautiful plan His beautiful plan His dreams swept away on a sad Kentucky night He ain't gonna wait for the water what's right Some folks just don't last that long And he won't be dead tonight So he got up Got in his truck and drove around A stroke of bad luck He figured as much It won't keep him down He found fame He lives in a place near Clearwater still Works on a boat Carries a load cause there's lots to feel There's lots to feel His dreams swept away on a sad Kentucky night He ain't gonna wait for the water what's right Some folks just don't last that long And he won't be dead tonight A happy old man Did a little hands-on with his knife Sleeps in the coals The pits and the falls that made up his life Now he's inspired Sits by the fire, how his wisdom sings So much to learn Stories that burn all the joy they bring The joy they bring His dreams swept away on a sad Kentucky night He ain't gonna wait for the water what's right His dreams swept away on a sad Kentucky night He ain't gonna wait for the water what's right Some folks just don't last that long And he won't be dead tonight
