new and improved

What if we're just too damn different To make a mutual decision No, no, we never turned it around or figured it out but You gave me something great And yeah, I tried to get better for someone Fixed my mental health 'cause I fell in love Chorus We're not together But I'm keeping all your love letters You got me better New and improved for the next one And I'm not gonna retire There's so much left for me to design 'Cause you left me inspired Now I'm alone but so much older I kind of wish it wasn't over When we would laugh till it hurts, or forget the words As we'd sing to 'State of Grace' And yeah, I'm thinking about a time when we weren't stuck Fixing up my hair as I tear up Chorus We're not together But I'm keeping all your love letters You got me better New and improved for the next one And I'm not gonna retire There's so much left for me to design 'Cause you left me inspired I stick a knife to the mirror 'Cause my reflection's so sore I change my mind like the weather I'm like Canadian fall And even if I could cry for someone I still wouldn't feel nothing at all And even if you were mine for real I still wouldn't feel like we belong So by now you should've made all of this make sense But your friends have always made me feel like I'm less There's nothing wrong with accepting what it is But there's nothing better than getting over it You wait because you've got some kind of complex And I'm drained because I'm always playing defense There's nothing harder than forcing the shoe to fit But there's nothing better than getting over it So maybe I should get over it Stop forcing that shoe to fit Procrastinating the end Chorus We're not together But I'm keeping all your love letters You got me better New and improved for the next one And I'm not gonna retire There's so much left for me to design 'Cause you left me inspired I'd turn back time just to figure out what exactly went wrong
