Long Before I Was Born

Long before I was born In a city I don't recall They took a blanket And put it over my head And I forgot where I was And I forgot who I was I spoke to my family The very next day They called me another name And I walked down Main Street And I couldn't buy a sweet Cause I didn't have a dime Suddenly yesterday I read in the newspaper Annisette shot down Before her home last night And suddenly today I received a letter Saying Tell a very good lie To the one you love It makes her happy But tell the truth To the one you love It makes her unhappy
