Windstorm in Wichita

The metal sails are spinning On that rusty old windmill Slowly dust is lifting A change of wind’s coming in You met her on Monday By the bus stop cafe She walked off that greyhound Looking for a reason to hang around You’re just a country boy in a little town That girl’s a Windstorm in Wichita She’s gonna hit you like a wrecking ball She’s a Kansas City runaway She ain't ever gonna stay Boy you can’t hold the breeze so love her like the leaves in fall That girl’s a Windstorm in Wichita She read a book about China She’d like to see that big ole’ wall Under starlight shining You listened to her dream all summer long But Midwest sky turned to grey The clouds rolled in when autumn came All aboard with the whistle sound She’s leaving on the train Manhattan bound She never said she’d settle down in this town That girl’s a Windstorm in Wichita She’s gonna hit you like a wrecking ball She’s a Kansas City runaway She ain't ever gonna stay Boy you can’t hold the breeze just love her like the leaves in fall She's gonna Windstorm in Wichita That girl’s a Windstorm in Wichita She gonna hit you like a wrecking ball She’s a Kansas City runaway Anytime the wind’s change Boy feel her in the breeze and love her like the leaves in fall Cuz she’s every Windstorm in Wichita That girl’s a Windstorm in Wichita a Windstorm in Wichita
