If It Was Me

Thursday morning I'm sat in the window seat Facing the exit cause I'm nervous we're 'bout to meet And it's raining but I know that's not why you're late Probably rehearsing all the things that you wanna say [Verse 2] I hear the bell and I know it's you at the door Take a deep breath cause there's no hiding anymore Pull out the chair and you order your favourite drink Won't go to war 'til I ask how you've been [Pre-Chorus] If you think you're faultless This is so hopeless Why can't you just own up Turn around, say, "Sorry, I've done you wrong" [Chorus] If it was me, I'd be kinder With my words, I'd be wiser And for my friends, I'd be a fighter But you don't play fair, no And if it was me, I'd be honest Throw my hands up, say I've been thoughtless If you live life like it's lawless You can't play fair [Verse 3] It's getting heated and I don't feel no good at this Confrontation is a lesson I seemed to skip You say you're sorry, but you still wanna argue your point Even the waiter wants us out of this joint [Pre-Chorus] If you think you're faultless This is so hopeless Why can't you just own up Turn around, say, "Sorry, I've done you wrong" [Chorus] If it was me, I'd be kinder With my words, I'd be wiser And for my friends, I'd be a fighter But you don't play fair, no And if it was me, I'd be honest (If it was me, I'd be honest) Throw my hands up, say I'd been thoughtless If you live life like it's lawless You can't play fair [Bridge] Now you got me like (Oh) If it was you, looking through me Would you be (Woah) Seeking the same apology? Like (Oh, woah, oh) If it was you, looking through me (Oh, woah, oh) Would I turn around say, "Sorry, I've done you wrong"? [Chorus] If it was me, I'd be kinder With my words, I'd be wiser And for my friends, I'd be a fighter But you don't play fair If it was me, I'd be honest Throw my hands up, say, "I've been thoughtless" If you live life like it's lawless You can't play fair, no, no and If it was me, I'd be kinder With my words, I'd be wiser And for my friends, I'd be a fighter But you don't play fair, no, oh (But you don't play fair) [Outro] And if it was me, yeah, and if it was me (And if it was me, I would be honest) You know for my friends I'd be a fighter But you don't play fair
