When I Close My Eyes (Feat. Tunji)

When I close my eyes When I close my eyes And everything's alright And I drift away drift away Drift away, drift away When I close my eyes When I close my eyes And everything's alright And I drift away drift away Drift away, drift away Still I rise, still I rise They try to clip my wings, but still I fly They try to bring me down and kill my high They took away my crown, trying to steal my pride But it just me stronger And even though them days got longer I learned some vital lessons when I made those wrong turns I'm grateful for the painful things that forced me to grow Because now I know to head straight at that fork in the road And I'm a fortunate soul, because I learned from the best They told me just work on your music, and you'll earn your respect But the product I promoted, watch it turn to a cheque And every time you rock the mic you reach your personal best But sometimes, this life is too much for me I should be living in an effing life of luxury Because the limit is the sky, but I struggle to survive So when it gets too hard, I just close my eyes When I close my eyes When I close my eyes And everything's alright And I drift away drift away Drift away, drift away Yo, I rise with the sun in the early morning Facing this world we born in My mind's swirling, storming, working until the words be forming People tell me that the sky is the limit But I'm living for right now, because I could die any minute This life is turning the page, earning a wage Learning to stay firm in your ways, burning with rage Learning only for the lessons, not concerned with the grades And roaming lonely through this Californian urban decay They always told me play in your work, work your play Be a man, stay strong when it hurts to stand If you love something and it's really worth a damn Then you should always feel the passion like you first began So here I am, my eyes on what's next Imma fight until the death The pride of the West inside of my chest I manoeuvre through the cries and the sweat The lies and regrets And when it gets too hard, I close my eyes and reflect When I close my eyes When I close my eyes And everything's alright And I drift away drift away Drift away, drift away Sometimes I want to drift away No more living in the past, got to live today Sometimes I want to drift away But I got so much to do, so many things to say Sometimes I want to drift away No more living in the past, got to live today Sometimes I want to drift away But I got so much to do, so many things to say
