Pedestal / Cover Me

I put myself up on your shelf You gave it all and nothing else But no one can live up to these high expectations of mine But that doesn't mean that you resist the temptation to try I remember just how it felt to be loved, to be held No one can live up to these high expectations in my life Now, I built a wall that is ten foot tall, and no man can climb I'm up high, circling around, just waiting to be let down So, let me down Terrified, so I pretend there's reasons for us to end All over again Don't act surprised when we both know It's just the way, the way it goes I never wanted to leave, but never needed to stay The harder I tried to keep, the harder it was to change I'm up high, circling around, just waiting to be let down So, let me down Terrified, so I pretend there's reasons for us to end All over again If we fall If we fall on you Would you fall Would you fall on me If we fall If we fall on you Would you fall Would you fall on me No one can live up to these high expectations of mine Now, I built a wall that is ten foot tall, and no man can climb Cover me, every piece When I can't control myself I wouldn't be with anybody else Cover me, never lead I might be strong on my own But you're the better half that makes me whole Cover me in your truth Forget all the perfect words It's everyday that you show me proof Forgive me, like you do When I try, but I fail When I'm none of these things to you
