Ghost Dance

Come quick darling, come here, what a dream Hold me while I tell you what I seen It was a voice inside the fire And the words were lined with stars Said the view will soon depart For the ghost dance Verse 2 I looked up on mother life she rode the comet's tail Blue her sorrows, filled her eyes somehow she felt she failed She said love to you who've tried But the green has left the vine And I do believe it's time For the ghost dance Verse 3 As she spoke the whispering moon fell gently through the cotton woods She became a glistening bird on wings of old forgotten words And her songs fell pure as snow On the empty hearts below And a mournful wind did blow For the ghost dance And the drum beat sure and slow And the restless rail roads Calling all the weary souls To the ghost dance The ghost dance
